Mr. Philp appears in the Supreme Court and District Courts in civil actions and interlocutory applications. He also appears in the Queensland Court of Appeal, on appeals relating to defamation, guarantees, personal injuries, restitution, arbitration and firearms offences.
Since January 2000 Mr. Philp has been the mediator in over 1000 mediations. Most of these have involved claims for damages for personal injuries. He also mediates disputes that concern the following: Trade Practices; defamation; Family Provision under Wills; wrongful dismissal; partnership disputes; building disputes; professional negligence; defacto property disputes; and general commercial disputes.
Mr. Philp has also appeared in a number of appeals before the Planning and Environment Court. He has also appeared before the Federal Court, Family Court, Federal Magistrates Court, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Industrial Court, Land Court, Sugar Cane Prices Board, Retail Shop Leases Tribunal, Psychologists Board (as Counsel assisting) Mining Warden, Coroner and New South Wales Rugby League Judiciary. Mr. Philp has also conducted several public examinations under the Corporations Act.
Mr. Philp has addressed legal conferences on ethics and mediation.
He regularly mediates matters in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton and Brisbane.
